Like Zermatt, Courmayeur and Chamonix, Les Houches is situated in the Northern Alps Wilderness. You must be aware of the following facts:
Not all bedrooms have a view on the Mont-Blanc .
You will not have a reserved parking lot in front of your housing.
There are no air conditioners.
The School has no swimming pool and tennis.
There are no TV and phone in the bedrooms.
USA Today and Budweiser are not available at the School (only CNN International).
However, despite legends:
Participants do not have to sleep in a barn (at least since the early
fifties).
Hot water and electricity are available at the school.
There are doctors and pharmacies in Les Houches.
Tap water is fully drinkable.
Unpasteurized local cheeses are very good.
There is a McDonald's restaurant in the valley (at last!).
